What are ElevenReader hours, and how do they work?
ElevenReader lets you listen by converting text into hours of audio. Hours are only used when you convert your imported text into audio for the first time.
- Hours are estimated for easy reference and are based on the amount of text converted and the speed at which you listen. The faster you listen, the quicker hours will be used in generating audio.
- Each plan's hours are based on listening at normal (1.0x) playback speed.
- You are not charged for listening to text you’ve already converted into audio and played before.
- You are not charged hours for listening to any of the thousands of free books or feeds in the Explore library.
Are ElevenLabs plans the same as ElevenReader plans?
No, ElevenReader offers its own subscription plans with an hourly system designed for listening to content on-the-go. ElevenLabs plans are different from ElevenReader plans.
Are hours included in the free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 2 free hours per week, which resets weekly.
Can I buy hours without a subscription?
Yes. You can purchase hours without having an active subscription with hourly packs. This allows you to convert your content into audio without committing to a recurring plan. We offer bulk discounts when you buy more hours at a time. Keep in mind that some advanced features may still require a subscription to access, even if you have hours.
If I buy a pack while on the free plan, will those be added to my two hours?
Yes, hourly packs are additive. This means that if you buy a pack with 15 hours, for example, those will be added to your 2 hours for a total of 17 hours.
Do my free weekly credits carry over to my subscription?
No — free weekly hours don’t stack with paid plans. Free users get 2 hours per week to generate new audio from their content. When you upgrade, your paid plan replaces the free hours with more expansive limits (30 hours, for example) for even more listening.
What’s the difference between buying hours and subscribing?
A subscription gives you ongoing access to premium features for a set period (monthly or yearly), while purchasing hours is a separate form of usage-based access for listening. Depending on your plan, you will receive a set number of hours each month, or you can purchase additional hours separately.
Do hours expire?
Yes. Free plans get 2 hours that expire and reset each week. Purchased hours expire 12 months after being issued for both subscriptions and one-time packs. This means unused hours from one month’s subscription will rollover for up to 12 full months of access.
Will I get hours for referring a friend?
Yes. If you refer a friend and they join through your link, both of you will earn hours upon your friend’s successful sign-up. The amount of hours you’ll earn is listed in the app.
